Over a century ago, a young man prepares to ride his bike full tilt over the compacted earth of the Son Espanyolet velodrome, in Palma, which no longer exists. But aside from being the one who is about to risk his life, his prestige and his glory in front of his neighbours, what is it that differentiates him from the rest of the people shown in this photograph? Exactly. The young amateur cyclist is the only one who is not looking at the camera. Well, him and the guard standing behind him with a sword hanging from his belt talking to an audience member.
