Wing Shya

The mirror of the soul

The unmistakeable seal of Wing Shya (Hong Kong, 1964) became renowned the world over after he designed scenes for the films of director Wong Kar-Wai, such as In the Mood for Love or 2046.

Wing Shya was born in Hong Kong and an attraction to the world of art led him to enrol in the Emily Carr Institute in Canada, to study Fine Arts. He then returned to his native city and created his design studio, Shya-la-la Workshops. The film director Wong Kar-Wai captured his essence and commissioned him to portray the soul of his scenes through photography in feature films like Happy Together, In the Mood for Love, Eros or 2046.
