Horses that Heal People

“When I realised that I could transform the lives of horses, I knew that I could also help transform the lives of people.” With this revelation begins the wonderful story of Valeria Vereau (Lima, Peru, 1984). Valeria helps others to connect with their soul and heal their fears through the wisdom of horses. “Horses see the invisible, their love is unconditional,” she says.

One imagines Valeria as a child riding a horse with a smile from ear to ear across the endless meadows of her native Peru. But nothing could be further from the truth. “As a child I was afraid of horses, I didn’t understand them, I thought that if I rode them something bad would happen to me.” An incredible statement for someone who today brings dead horses back to life - animals that have lost their souls after unbearable mistreatment, and which she helps to recover. 


So what happened to make Valeria, by now in Mallorca, just two years ago, decide to get close to these animals which she had hitherto found terrifying? What happened was another miracle: her 5-year-old son Marlon. “One day Marlon told us he wanted to ride a pony. And we took him riding. At that point I understood that it was time to confront my fears and insecurities, and I started taking lessons.” 


Gradually, Valeria cast off her fear and began to feel the energy of the horse as she rode it. ‘But I soon realised that I needed my own horse if I was to make the connection I needed. It is essential to live with them to deepen and learn from their essence. [...]
