"Home has been the human being's base since the cave"
Manuel Villanueva (Madrid, 1977) and Aureliano Oro del Negro (Deià, 1977) founded Moredesign, their architecture studio in Deià, in 2011. From here they design houses in the Bahamas, Brazil or Mexico, and of course in Mallorca, always with a presence of Mediterranean roots.

“In a way,” says Manuel, “we feel like the heirs of those artists who moved here to live in Deià, who for me were the pioneers of intervention on traditional houses in the Serra de Tramuntana. They were the first ones to start opening up studios, changing functionalities, interpreting spaces in a contemporary way, knocking down walls, searching for light and introducing new influences”.
After working at prestigious architecture firms like Jean Nouvel or Herzog & de Meuron, Villanueva and del Negro decided to open Moredesign in 2011. “We approach every project based on research, from the stance of the vernacular and things local, with materials and forms of architecture that have been developed over recent years, looking for interesting references.
